Emergency Call 110 in Case of Immediate Danger
If you are in immediate danger, you can call 110. This emergency call is always free and available 24/7. To help the police station understand what has happened, consider the following questions:
- What happened? Describe the event, any injuries, and specific dangers.
- Where did it happen? Provide the location of the emergency.
- Who is calling? Give your name, location, and phone number.
Keep your explanation as brief and clear as possible. Remain calm while answering these questions.
After making this emergency call, a police car will come to you as quickly as possible.
Filing a Report
If you have experienced or witnessed a crime, you can file a report with the police. The police will then start an investigation and collect evidence regarding the crime(s). Once the police learn about a crime or witness it themselves, they are obligated to investigate the matter.
If you wish to file a report, you can go to a police station and inform the officers on duty about the crime. You can find the police's website here. Select the state you are currently in to be directed to the local police and get contact information.
If you want to file a report but are not in immediate danger or prefer not to go to a station, you can also file a report online. This is possible at any time of day. The online police stations offer additional services, which are explained on the police website for the state you live in or are staying in.
Find the online police stations for each state here.
