Shelter contacts
You can go to a shelter if you have experienced violence in your relationship or family. The violence does not have to be physical; a threat of violence is also a reason to seek help at a shelter.
Shelters offer counseling, support, and guidance. They are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and are available to people of all ages. Staying in a shelter is free. You are free to go to any shelter without needing a referral. If necessary, you can go to a shelter without giving your name.
You can obtain updated information on shelter resources by contacting the shelter directly. Shelter contact details can be found on the Ministry of Equality's website.

There is a specific hotline for victims of gender violence available at the number 016. This service provides information about shelters, legal information and counseling. It is free and confidential. If you are concerned about your situation, call the nearest shelter or the 116 helpline.
The Telephone Service for Attention and Protection for victims of violence against women (ATENPRO) is a service that, through the use of appropriate technology, provides immediate support to victims of violence against women, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, regardless of location.
The service relies on mobile communication and telelocation technology, allowing women who are victims of gender-based violence to contact a center staffed by personnel specifically trained to respond to their needs. In emergency situations, center staff are prepared to handle the crisis directly or by mobilizing additional human and material resources.
Victims of gender-based violence who meet the following requirements may apply for the service:
- You are a female victim of gender-based vio-
lence - You are not living with the aggressor who has
abused you - You participate in the specialised care pro-
grammes existing in your autonomous region - You accept the service’s operating rules and
cooperate in their proper functioning.
