Rape checklist

If you have been raped or attempted rape

See a doctor as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours

Even if you don’t have any visible injuries, traces of sexual abuse can often only be verified by a doctor. If possible, do not get washed or change your clothes.

Do not stay alone after what has happened

Rape or attempted rape is a distressing event, but you can overcome it. Talk about it to someone close and reliable. In addition to talking with close ones, it is worth talking to a professional. Remember, you are not responsible for the event. The offender is guilty and accountable for what has happened.

Report the crime
